    Brief

The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) is seeking research services to conduct structured interviews with UK audit firms that do not audit Public Interest Entities (PIEs). This research will examine pre-qualification education, training, and assessment practices for statutory auditors at non-PIE firms, including those that currently employ trainee auditors and those that do not. The study aims to understand current training approaches and identify barriers to effective training delivery. The successful supplier will conduct interviews with a selected sample of firms, deliver anonymised full transcripts, present early findings by late September, and produce interim and final themed reports with illustrative quotes by mid-October and late-December respectively. All outputs will be appropriately anonymised so individual firms and participants cannot be identified, though anonymised findings may be quoted in published FRC documents such as consultation papers. Suppliers should refer to the full Invitation to Tender (ITT) for complete details and submission requirements.
