Water Supply Sampling and Laboratory Analysis Services for Private Water Supplies

North Yorkshire Council seeks a qualified provider to deliver comprehensive private water supply sampling and analysis services. The selected supplier will manage water quality testing for over 2,700 private water supplies across North Yorkshire, including approximately 1,500 single dwellings spread over a large geographical area. The role requires organising and conducting over 900 sample visits annually, including sampling of 800+ Regulation 9 supplies and 100+ Regulation 10 supplies, along with laboratory analysis and reporting. The provider must be accredited under the Drinking Water Testing Specification (DWTS) and ISO 17025, ensure compliance with the Private Water Supplies Regulations 2016 (as amended), and maintain full regulatory alignment with Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) reporting standards. Responsibilities include planning, site sampling, sample transport, laboratory analysis, data quality management, timely reporting, and contract management. Results must be provided in an electronic format compatible with Local Authority annual reporting requirements to the Drinking Water Inspectorate. The successful supplier must demonstrate sufficient laboratory capacity and logistical capability to meet the volume and compliance demands of this programme.
