General Practice Cover Service for Academic and Protected Learning Time - Bromley

NHS South East London Integrated Care Board (Bromley Place) is seeking providers to deliver a new Academic Half Day (AHD) / Protected Learning Time (PLT) General Practice Cover Service, starting 1 December 2026. This replaces current arrangements expiring in November 2026. Service Overview: This service provides locum cover for general practices when GPs undertake approved academic activities and protected learning time. The contract is designed to support workforce development while maintaining practice continuity and patient access. Contract Value: Core contract of approximately £50,000 per annum, with flexibility to commission additional sessions up to a maximum of £100,000 per annum through a call-off mechanism. Market Engagement: The ICB is conducting market engagement to understand provider capability, delivery models, workforce considerations, and service specifications. Feedback is sought on financial viability and opportunities to enhance patient experience, service resilience, and demand management.
