The North East Multi-School Alliance (MSA) is seeking a delivery partner to extend its Fast Forward to Reading Fluency project into the 2026/27 academic year. This evidence-based programme has demonstrated measurable improvements in pupil reading confidence and standardised assessment outcomes. The delivery partner will design and deliver a peer-mediated reading aloud intervention across up to 20 schools in the North East MSA footprint. The programme involves: Delivery Model: • Two 20-minute in-school sessions per week • Carefully sequenced reading anthologies spanning multiple curriculum areas (history, geography, science, arts) • Delivery by trained peer tutors (typically Year 10 or Year 12 pupils) • Structured approach to develop reading fluency, vocabulary and background knowledge Scope: • Support schools to review attainment data and identify 20 pupils per school most in need • Random assignment of pupils to intervention group (n=10, immediate access) or control group (n=10, delayed access) Key Requirements: • Diagnostic assessment of participating pupils • Impact study evaluating programme effectiveness • In-person launch session for school representatives • Subsequent network events to support participating schools This is an opportunity to scale an evidence-based literacy intervention that improves pupil access to the broader curriculum and long-term life chances.
