    Brief

The Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) is commissioning hospital-based youth work services across 10 London hospital sites, including Major Trauma Centres and Accident & Emergency departments. This service targets young people aged 11-25 who present with injuries from violence, exploitation, or sexual assault, providing emotional and practical support, advocacy, and safeguarding coordination to help them cope with trauma and break cycles of violence. Youth workers embed within hospitals to reach vulnerable young people at critical moments, form trusted relationships, and connect them with community services and positive opportunities. The commission is structured into four geographical lots, with successful bidders demonstrating strong local community connections and understanding of their hospital systems. Single organisations, partnerships, and consortia are invited to bid. The contract runs from January 2027 to March 2029 (27 months) with an optional 24-month extension, with service delivery from April 2027. The total estimated budget is up to £9,267,584 excluding VAT over the full 51-month period (approximately £231,000 per hospital site). Key outcomes include reducing violence and hospital readmissions, supporting access to positive opportunities, and ensuring young people feel safe.
