Emergency ULT Freezer Replacement for Disease Surveillance

This contract seeks urgent procurement of an ultra-low temperature (ULT) freezer to replace failed equipment critical to vector-borne disease surveillance operations. The existing freezer has failed at the start of the field season, and current storage capacity will be rapidly depleted as new samples are collected, creating significant operational risk. Procurement of two replacement freezers through standard commercial channels has experienced delays since August 2025. This contract variation will enable expedited acquisition to maintain uninterrupted surveillance activities. Upon completion, the CCHS will operate three ULT freezers in total (the two units currently under procurement plus this additional unit). Suppliers should be prepared to deliver equipment quickly to prevent sample storage capacity shortfalls and ensure continuity of critical public health surveillance work.
