Margam and Union House Buildings Over-Cladding Works

Swansea University is seeking qualified contractors for a two-stage retrofit project to upgrade the external façades of two buildings on the Singleton Campus: the Margam Building (3-storey academic building) and Union House Building (4-storey academic/student activity building). The works include over-cladding with improved insulation, replacement glazing, and new doors as part of the University's decarbonisation initiative. Stage 1 involves a competitive tender process via etenderWales to shortlist bidders based on their responses to a detailed questionnaire. Selected bidders will be evaluated on preliminaries, design fees, and fee percentages for the Margam building, which has an advanced design. The Union House design will be completed to RIBA Stage 3 before pricing. Market rates established in the initial Margam tender will benchmark Union House pricing. The procurement will take place in a live environment, and the University reserves the right to adjust the process or issue a new tender as needed.
