Solar Carport Installation Tender at Kings Langley School

Kings Langley School, a co-educational secondary school with 1,087 students and 105 staff in Hertfordshire, is seeking a qualified contractor to design, supply, install, test, commission and hand over a turnkey 170kWp solar photovoltaic carport system. The project scope includes final design, build and installation of a solar PV carport over the existing car parking area, plus all structural, civil, electrical and commissioning works to create a fully operational system. The contractor must provide proposals for both roof and canopy solar systems compliant with permitted development planning rules and deliver an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) solution including surveys, detailed design, statutory approvals, equipment, installation, testing, commissioning, training and handover documentation. The school aims to reduce grid electricity consumption and carbon emissions, ensure safe and reliable operations with minimal disruption, secure robust warranties, maximise on-site electricity generation, and achieve best value through competitive procurement. Tenders are due by 1pm on Thursday 17 September 2026 with no extension possible. The estimated contract value is £300,000 (excl. VAT) with completion required by 31 August 2027. Evaluation criteria: 25% cost, 50% technical solutions and compliance, 15% project delivery and programme, 10% warranties and aftercare.
