    This opportunity involves providing continued maintenance, support, and incremental improvements to space weather operational capabilities developed through the UKRI Space Weather Implementation, Measurement, Modelling and Risk (SWIMMR) programme. The University of Aberystwyth has developed critical models and tools including CORTOM (solar wind boundary model) and ACME (automated CME detection tool) that are essential for the Met Office Space Weather Operations Centre's forecasting of geomagnetic storms and their impacts on critical infrastructure. The work requires ensuring these established capabilities remain reliable, perform optimally, and continue to meet operational requirements through September 2026. Suppliers should understand that this is a continuation of prior research-to-operations work, requiring technical expertise in space weather modelling, operational system integration, model validation, and collaboration with Met Office space weather teams and other academic partners. The successful delivery will support Met Office's ability to provide accurate space weather forecasts to protect key sectors including power grids and other critical infrastructure from geomagnetic storm risks.
