Independent Person for Clwyd Pension Fund

Clwyd Pension Fund, administered by Flintshire County Council, is recruiting an Independent Person to strengthen governance oversight. This is a key role supporting the Pension Fund Committee and Head of Fund, delivering scrutiny and constructive challenge on pension fund matters. The Fund serves over 50,000 scheme members across more than 50 participating employers and is recognized as a leading example of best practice governance within the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) community. The Independent Person will provide external perspective, objective expert insight, and identify improvement opportunities while ensuring compliance with LGPS legislation and regulatory expectations. Responsibilities include supporting governance standards, transparency, and accountability across all fund activities; providing constructive challenge to committee advice; and maintaining the highest standards of pension service delivery. The successful candidate must be completely independent of Clwyd Pension Fund and Flintshire County Council with no conflicts of interest. Applicants cannot work for any advisor, fund manager, or service provider conducting business with the Fund, or who has done so within the last two valuation cycles. The role requires collaboration with elected members, pension board representatives, and officers while maintaining an independent viewpoint and uncompromising impartiality.
