Brief

Devon County Council is seeking a qualified service provider to deliver a county-wide body transportation service for the Devon Coroner jurisdiction. The successful contractor will be responsible for the collection and transportation of deceased persons from community locations to designated mortuaries, body storage facilities, funeral directors, and other approved destinations on behalf of HM Coroner. Additional responsibilities include inter-mortuary transfers and transportation of deceased persons to specialist facilities outside the area for post-mortem examinations and other specialist services. The service must operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year across the entire Devon Coroner area, encompassing Exeter, Greater Plymouth, and Torbay and South Devon. The service provider must demonstrate the capability to deliver a resilient, professional, and dignified service with appropriate vehicle fleet, trained personnel, and operational systems to meet the demands of this essential public service.
