    Brief

The Met Office seeks continued development of the Next Generation LFRic (NG-LFRic) modelling code following initial project phases. This opportunity focuses on computational performance optimization of the LFRic atmospheric modelling system, including analysis and improvement of time-step and initialization costs using industry-standard profiling tools (CrayPAT and Vernier) on HPE AMD computing systems. Work will target key model configurations including the global 10km resolution C896 model. Additionally, suppliers will develop Input/Output API infrastructure functionality within the XIOS (XML Input Output Server) framework to enhance data handling capabilities. The project runs from October 2026 through March 2028 and represents the third procurement stage of the NG-LFRic initiative.
