    Brief

The Food Standards Authority (FSA) is seeking a research organization to conduct a comprehensive study assessing the effectiveness of interventions implemented by red meat and poultry slaughterhouses and cutting/processing plants across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland when responding to unsatisfactory process hygiene criteria (PHC) test results. The successful contractor will develop a handbook documenting best-practice corrective actions and remediation strategies that meat processors use to address process hygiene failures. This research will help identify which interventions are most effective, support regulatory compliance, and provide guidance to facilities seeking to improve their hygiene standards and prevent future PHC failures. The study should evaluate existing practices, outcomes, and their impact on food safety and operational effectiveness.
