    Brief

Dorchester Town Council is seeking a qualified conservation contractor to refurbish the Grade II listed Town Pump on Cornhill, Dorchester. The project involves sensitive, conservation-led work including: dismantling and removing the existing base; reconstructing the plinth with Portland Stone; correcting a 50mm westward lean in the stone column; cleaning, repairing, and conserving stonework using traditional methods; installing a new drinking-water spout with an eighteenth-century lion-head mask design; creating a drainage detail for a dog drinking basin; and installing a separate Portland Stone drinking bowl. All work must follow the approved conservation philosophy and comply with statutory approvals. Contractors should demonstrate experience in Grade II listed building conservation and traditional stonework techniques.
