Emergency Medicines Courier Service for Out of Hours Palliative Care

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is seeking a contractor to provide an emergency courier service for transporting prescriptions and prescribed medications between Out of Hours (OOH) bases, community pharmacies, and patients' homes across the Health Board area. This service is critical for the Health Board's out of hours palliative care medicines supply arrangements, ensuring patients requiring urgent end-of-life medication can access treatment promptly and remain in their preferred place of care. The appointed provider will collect prescriptions from patients' homes or Health Board OOH bases, liaise with the on-call pharmacist, transport prescriptions to designated community pharmacies, wait for dispensing, and deliver medications directly to patients' homes in a timely manner. The service must be responsive, reliable, and capable of operating outside standard business hours to support vulnerable patients at the end of life.
