Landfill Gas and Leachate Management Operations at Corby Closed Landfill Site

North Northamptonshire Council seeks an experienced supplier to operate and maintain landfill gas and leachate extraction systems at Corby Closed Landfill Site, a 17-hectare site (13 hectares of landfill) located on the northern outskirts of Corby. The contract runs for 3 years starting April 1, 2027, with a 12-month extension option. Site Overview: The landfill contains approximately 1.4 million cubic metres of waste (maximum depth 18 metres) deposited from the early 1970s to early 1990s in a former ironstone mining void. The site features three landfill cells, a leachate treatment plant with three aerated lagoons, mature tree plantation, and gas extraction infrastructure including a flare stack installed in the 1990s. Key Responsibilities: The supplier must perform scheduled operation and maintenance of all extraction systems, plant, and equipment to ensure compliance with the Environmental Permit, Trade Effluent Consent with Anglian Water, and the site lease agreement. Additional duties include routine environmental monitoring, regular performance reporting, and close coordination with the Council's technical support provider and grounds maintenance contractor. Operational Context: The site operates under an inert Waste Management Licence with the Environment Agency, with approved Gas Management and Leachate Management Plans. Treated leachate is discharged to the nearby sewerage network. Site visits and clarifications will be available during the tender process. Tender documents are planned for publication in September.
