Cable Management System for Shore-to-Ship Power at Oban Base

The Northern Lighthouse Board (NLB) is seeking to procure a Cable Management System to enable shore-to-ship power (cold ironing) for its vessel NLV Pole Star at the Oban operational base. This is part of NLB's commitment to environmental sustainability by providing onshore electrical power to vessels while berthed, reducing emissions and fuel consumption. Scope of Work: The supplier must design, supply, install, integrate, and commission a safe, reliable cable management solution that delivers shore power under site-specific conditions. Key requirements include: - Safe and efficient cable handling and deployment between shore and vessel - Accommodation of tidal variation and quay-side constraints - Compatibility with existing infrastructure - Compliance with relevant marine, electrical, and safety standards - Minimal civil works requirement (e.g. quay strengthening) - Integration with existing shore power infrastructure - Minimal disruption to ongoing base activities Contract Details: Estimated value: £500,000 Initial term: 2 years (plus optional 1-year extension) Award approach: Best Technically Affordable (BTA) - prioritising high-quality, technically compliant solutions within the fixed budget Site visit: 1st July at Oban Base Suppliers are encouraged to propose robust, scalable solutions based on proven or off-the-shelf technologies that meet all operational and safety requirements.
