The National Oceanography Centre is seeking a qualified contractor to supply and install replacement FD60-rated fire doors throughout the main stairwell areas of its building. This is Phase 1 of a fire safety improvement programme and involves replacing approximately 35-40 existing fire doors that are no longer fit for purpose or compliant with current fire safety standards. Scope of Work: The contractor must provide complete certified door set solutions including removal and disposal of existing doors and frames, and supply and installation of new FD60 fire door assemblies. Each door set must include the door leaf, frame, intumescent and smoke seals, glazing (where applicable), ironmongery, signage, and self-closing mechanisms. All components must be tested and certified as a complete assembly to BS 476-22 or BS EN 1634-1 standards by an approved scheme such as Certifire or BM TRADA Q-Mark. Key Requirements: - Fire-rated glazing must match the door set's fire resistance rating and be included in certification - Installation must follow manufacturer specifications and certification requirements, including prescribed tolerances for door gaps and thresholds - Contractor is responsible for surveying, manufacturing, supplying, delivering, installing, testing, commissioning, and certifying all installations - Full provision of records, warranties, and compliance documentation required This is an ideal opportunity for installers specialising in certified fire safety solutions and compliance-critical building works.
