Water Quality and Hydrological Monitoring Services for Moorland Catchments

United Utilities seeks a contractor to continue a long-term water quality and hydrological monitoring programme across three moorland catchments (Upper Goyt, Ashway Gap at Chew, and Brennand at Bowland) for the period September 2026 to April 2030. This established monitoring initiative, which began in 2006 as part of the Sustainable Catchment Management Programme (SCaMP), has created a unique 20-year dataset tracking the effects of moorland restoration, natural disturbances (fires, woodland felling), and climate change impacts. The contractor will maintain the current monitoring configuration and high temporal resolution data collection to preserve this valuable long-term environmental dataset used by academic researchers across the UK. The programme requires continuation of existing monitoring protocols, equipment maintenance, data collection, and reporting to support evidence-based catchment management decisions and contribute to ongoing hydrological and ecological research.
