UK Crisis and Resilience Fund Grant - Local Authority Support (2026-2029)

The UK Government is launching the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) on 1 April 2026, running until 31 March 2029, providing multiyear grant funding to local authorities across England. The CRF replaces the Household Support Fund (HSF) and Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP), establishing a unified, long-term framework for local crisis support. Local authorities must allocate funding across four policy strands: Crisis Payments (immediate support for those in financial crisis), Housing Payments (assistance with housing cost shortfalls), Resilience Services (outcomes-based services to improve financial resilience), and Prevention and Integration Services (mapping local support systems and enabling preventative, holistic assistance). The CRF focuses on three core outcomes: providing effective crisis support to low-income individuals experiencing financial shocks; improving individual and community financial resilience to reduce repeat crisis support; and integrating local support systems through preventative approaches and digital solutions. Resilience Services must track outcomes including increased savings, maximized individual income, improved access to quality advice, reduced emergency food parcel use, decreased crisis payments, reduced debt levels, and decreased material deprivation.
