    Brief

The University of Birmingham is seeking a single contractor/operator to provide, install, operate and maintain electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across its campus. The scope includes: designing and installing charging points for staff, student and visitor use; migrating and consoliding the University's existing 40 connectors across 33 charge points plus 6 in development; implementing automated fault monitoring to improve reliability; capturing and managing fleet vehicle charging data; conducting an ongoing feasibility study to identify expansion opportunities and assess electrical capacity; and extending services to the Edgbaston Park Hotel site. The University is open to different operating models: a revenue-sharing concession model where the contractor funds and maintains infrastructure while sharing charging revenue, or a managed service model where the University owns the infrastructure. The contract will run for 3 years from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2029, with an optional 1-year extension. Expressions of interest should include three case studies of relevant EV charging experience, views on the proposed operating models or alternative proposals, and an outline approach to conducting the feasibility study in partnership with the University. Interested suppliers must register on the University's E-Tendering Portal to submit their EOI.
