    Brief

The University of Oxford will provide NHS England with access to the ORCHID-E dataset to support pancreatic cancer case-finding in primary care. ORCHID is a national dataset containing pseudonymised patient-level data from over 2,000 GP practices across England, offering harmonised data across multiple clinical systems with established governance arrangements. Between August 2026 and December 2029, the University of Oxford will conduct three data extractions from ORCHID to supply baseline and evaluation data. This data will be analysed by Imperial College London alongside other sources to assess the pilot's effectiveness in identifying pancreatic cancer cases through primary care. The opportunity involves providing secure data access, conducting extractions, and supporting the pilot's evaluation framework without placing additional burden on GP practices.
