Prevention and Early Years Health and Wellbeing Schemes

This grant funding opportunity supports the continuation of three integrated prevention and early years schemes across Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan, designed to reduce health inequalities and improve long-term wellbeing through early intervention and community engagement. Scheme One (Healthy and Sustainable Pre-School Scheme) works with childcare settings to promote healthy eating, oral health, and physical activity among young children through staff training, resources, and family engagement events, with expansion to high-need areas. Scheme Two (Enhanced Time Credit Approach) uses a time banking model to encourage volunteering in disadvantaged communities, addressing social isolation and building employment skills while promoting environmental responsibility, with local business engagement and evaluation of the new 'Value in the Vale' model. Scheme Three (Ethnic Minority Engagement) improves access to preventative health services including childhood immunisations and bowel cancer screening in ethnic minority communities through culturally sensitive engagement and partnership-building, with plans to expand to healthy weight and physical activity promotion. This is a grant funding agreement under the Procurement Act 2023 Exempted Contract Schedule 2.3.3, with a Transparency Notice to be published as best practice.
