Henley Road Cemetery Extension – Design and Management Consultant Team

Reading Borough Council is seeking a multi-disciplinary Design and Management Team to lead the expansion of Henley Road Cemetery. The project is essential to provide burial capacity for Reading beyond 2030, as the current cemetery is nearing capacity and other alternatives have been ruled out. The appointed consultant will oversee RIBA Stages 1–6, encompassing site analysis, design development, planning applications, statutory approvals, environmental permitting, project management, and construction support. The role also includes managing a three-year Tier 3 groundwater monitoring and risk assessment programme post-completion. Key responsibilities include coordinating all design disciplines (architecture, engineering, environmental specialists), leading stakeholder engagement, addressing planning and environmental sensitivities, and delivering a strategically vital infrastructure project that ensures sustainable burial provision for the local community.
