Consultant for Regional Green Belt Assessment Review

The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is seeking a consultant to review and compare existing Green Belt assessments across the region. Key responsibilities include: analyzing whether different assessment methodologies can be harmonized for strategic development strategy (SDS) purposes; evaluating Green Belt land beyond the five standard planning purposes to include recreation and access, biodiversity, carbon storage, climate adaptation, food production, and landscape value; and providing findings to support strategic spatial planning options and local plan coordination. Deliverables will inform Green Belt policy development, guide environmental net-gain initiatives, and help align planning approaches across the wider area. This is an ideal opportunity for consultants with expertise in spatial planning, environmental assessment, and regional policy coordination.
