Replacement of Museum Spirit Storage Container at Horniman Collections Centre

The Horniman Museum and Gardens, a Grade II* listed institution in Greenwich, London, is seeking a contractor to design and deliver a replacement Spirit Store container at their Study Collection Centre (SCC). The existing refrigerated container stores organic and biological specimens preserved in flammable liquids (denatured alcohol and formalin) and requires modernisation due to age-related safety and conservation risks. The project scope includes: designing and fabricating a new Spirit Store container with temperature control; site preparation and groundworks; utilities and services installation; firewall construction for safety compliance; delivery, erection and fitting out of the new container; and repositioning of existing container stores on site. The successful contractor will work from the Employer's Requirements document and associated drawings (A101, A102, A103) to create a facility that meets current storage standards, accommodates the museum's evolving collection needs, and reflects updated working practices. This is a design-and-build opportunity for a specialist supplier with experience in secure, temperature-controlled storage solutions for hazardous or sensitive materials.
