    Brief

Met Éireann, Ireland's national meteorological service, seeks an experienced IT services provider to deliver comprehensive hosting, development, and 24/7 operational support for its public-facing digital platforms. The successful contractor will manage a sophisticated infrastructure serving weather forecasts, warnings, marine advisories, climate data, and public information through the met.ie web portal and native Android/iOS mobile applications. Key responsibilities include: (1) Configuring and maintaining a highly available, georesilient hosting infrastructure across multiple regions with disaster recovery capabilities, penetration-tested security standards, and contingency solutions to ensure uninterrupted service delivery; (2) Developing and enhancing web portals and mobile applications that deliver weather warnings, forecasts, radar/satellite imagery, climate datasets, educational materials, and data access services, all supporting bilingual Irish-language content and accessibility standards; (3) Providing continuous infrastructure and application maintenance, 24/7/365 critical support with rapid response times, close collaboration with Met Éireann's operational teams, and well-defined incident management processes. Development priorities include mobile app modernization, content management system improvements, archive solutions, API consolidation, enhanced forecasting features, and failover/disaster recovery enhancements. All applications require security compliance, accessibility testing via the National Disability Authority, responsive design, and operational analytics with monitoring dashboards. The applications are fully public-facing and freely accessible for supplier review.
