    Brief

    The Standards and Testing Agency (STA) is inviting expressions of interest from qualified professionals to fill two expert roles supporting the development of primary English assessment materials. Assessment Advisor Role: Develop Key Stage 1 and 2 assessment materials for English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. You should have teaching experience in KS1-2 English or literacy leadership, knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment practices, and experience reviewing test materials. Prior test development experience is not required. Curriculum Advisor Role: Provide expert input on KS1 grammar, punctuation, and spelling assessment materials. You should have recent, substantial expertise in this curriculum area, experience analyzing assessment materials critically, awareness of recent assessment reviews and consultations, and ideally previous involvement in national curriculum test development or similar projects. Strong stakeholder communication and problem-solving skills are essential. Contract Details: Both roles run from October 2026 to August 2028. Assignment lengths and meeting schedules vary and will be confirmed 3-6 months in advance. These positions can be undertaken alongside full-time or part-time employment provided there is no conflict of interest and work can be completed on schedule.
