    Brief

This is a 24-month research and development project to advance a genomic data platform for foodborne pathogen and antimicrobial resistance surveillance. Working with government agencies including the Food Standards Agency (FSA), UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), and Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA), the project spans three workstreams: technical development, governance, and strategy. Key objectives include: building a strong evidence base (datasets, reports, technical analyses) to guide platform design and reduce technical risks; advancing the platform toward operational readiness to leverage previous investments and strengthen national capability; and establishing sustained cross-government collaboration for coordinated, effective pathogen surveillance. Suppliers should have expertise in genomic data systems, public health informatics, or related technical infrastructure. The project aims to create a foundation for long-term national resilience against foodborne threats and antimicrobial resistance through integrated One Health approaches.
