Grounds Maintenance Services for Totnes Cemetery and Castle Meadow

Totnes Town Council is seeking a qualified contractor to provide grounds maintenance services for two sites: Totnes Cemetery (approximately 7.01 acres) and Castle Meadow. The contract runs for an initial two-year term from 1st April 2027 to 31st March 2029, with potential for renewal. Key responsibilities include: grass cutting (17 cuts per annum at the Cemetery; 2 cuts per annum at Castle Meadow), hedge and shrub trimming with seasonal bird nesting restrictions, maintenance of raised graves and garden areas, pathway clearance, and winter debris removal. The contractor must comply with all Health and Safety legislation, hold adequate Public Liability Insurance, provide risk assessments, and adhere to the Council's ban on Glyphosate use. Work must not commence before 0800 hours to respect nearby residents and funeral services. The contractor must supply all tools, machinery, equipment, materials, transport, and staff. Monthly monitoring meetings will be held with the Council's appointed officer. Payment will be made monthly in arrears by the 30th of the following month. Either party may terminate with three months' written notice.
