    Brief

This is a re-procurement of volunteer-led community services across two London boroughs. The Community Champions programme recruits and trains local resident volunteers to improve health, wellbeing and community cohesion by delivering health promotion, prevention activities, public health campaigns, and signposting residents to local services. The Maternity Champions programme provides culturally appropriate peer support for expectant and new parents, focusing on maternal health, infant development and reducing inequalities in disadvantaged communities. Both programmes work as trusted local connectors supporting short-term emergency responses and longer-term community resilience. Services include ongoing community groups and classes, outreach events, and gathering community feedback to ensure services are accessible and culturally appropriate. The programmes support statutory duties under the Health and Social Care Act 2012, NHS Act 2006, Children Act 1989 and 2004, and Childcare Act 2006. They form part of the Pre-Birth to Five pathway and align with local priorities including Best Start in Life Strategy, Breast-Feeding Plan and Peri-Natal Mental Health Pathway, working in partnership with NHS Maternity services, Early Help and Family Hubs.
