District Energy Network Operator - Nottingham City Council

Nottingham City Council invites qualified providers to take ownership or operational control of the Nottingham City District Energy Network. The successful bidder will assume responsibility for supplying heating to approximately 5,000 residential properties currently connected to the network, while maintaining the Council's landlord and covenant obligations. Three key agreements are anticipated: (1) an asset transfer or alternative structural arrangement; (2) a Services Agreement for continued heat supply to connected properties for a specified term; and (3) a Supply Agreement providing heat and electricity to the Council itself. The contract term is expected to be approximately 40 years, though the final duration will be confirmed during the procurement process. This represents a significant opportunity to operate a large-scale district energy network serving thousands of households while establishing a long-term energy supply partnership with the local authority.
