Pollution Control Design Support for Hobson's Brook and Coldham's Common

Cambridge City Council is seeking qualified organisations to design and model pollution mitigation systems for two urban chalk streams: Hobson's Brook and Coldham's Common. This is an early-stage market engagement exercise; interested suppliers should register their interest and may optionally submit a brief summary of relevant experience. A formal Request for Quote will follow. The successful supplier will convert existing water quality evidence and monitoring data into practical, nature-based treatment designs including wetlands, swales, and polishing ponds to remove nutrients, sediment, metals and hydrocarbons. Key responsibilities include: developing pollutant load calculations, designing treatment systems, providing hydraulic and pollutant removal modelling, supporting construction planning and regulatory approvals, and establishing performance monitoring frameworks. The role requires specialist leadership integrating water quality, runoff, sediment and habitat evidence into delivery-ready technical designs. Collaboration with Cambridge City Council, universities, contractors and project partners is essential.
