Subsea Cable Protection Services - UK and European Waters

National Grid is seeking a qualified supplier to provide subsea cable protection services across UK and European waters. The contract involves supplying a vessel and conducting survey services for the installation of protective measures, including rock placement and concrete mattresses, to safeguard subsea electricity cables. The successful supplier must demonstrate capability to operate in both nearshore and offshore environments at water depths up to 90 meters. The initial contract term is 4 years with two optional 2-year extensions, allowing for a maximum 8-year duration. Work will be executed through individual work orders as required. The supplier will serve National Grid and its joint venture partners, with immediate focus on two priority projects: (1) IFA cable between England and France requiring 2,500 meters of rock protection in waters up to 50 meters deep, including work in a marine conservation zone, and (2) North Sea Link cable between England and Norway requiring an 8-meter rock berm extension in 90-meter deep water. Mobilization for initial works is planned for spring 2027, subject to licensing approval.
