    Brief

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is hosting two virtual roundtable events on October 27th and November 3rd, 2026 (9:30-10:30 GMT) to bring together employers, charities, and organisations to discuss how to better support people returning to work after a cancer diagnosis. Led by the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health Innovation, these events will focus on practical solutions for supporting cancer survivors in employment, with particular emphasis on challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Participants will share existing approaches, discuss barriers to support, and explore collaboration opportunities to scale effective interventions. Around 830,000 working-age people in England are living with cancer, and many face significant financial hardship and lost productivity—patients lose an average of 75 days of work during their cancer pathway. This roundtable aims to raise awareness of proven support mechanisms and make them more accessible across all sectors of the economy. One representative per organisation may attend. Registration closes October 20th, 2026 at 11:59 pm via the provided online form.
