    Brief

This grant opportunity funds peer mentoring programmes that provide non-clinical, voluntary support to adults struggling with substance dependency. The programme aims to help participants overcome barriers including poor health, unemployment, and housing insecurity, while building trust and engagement with treatment and recovery services. Peer mentors with lived experience of substance dependency provide practical, tailored support to help participants achieve personal stability and progress towards employment, training or other positive activities. The programme operates within a whole-system, place-based approach in areas with high levels of substance misuse-related need. Central London Forward acts as the Accountable Body to coordinate delivery across local partners including treatment providers, employment services, and voluntary organisations. Key outcomes include building participant trust and disclosure, improving service engagement, enhancing employability and confidence, and strengthening collaboration between local support services. This aligns with government priorities to improve outcomes for people affected by drug and alcohol misuse by connecting treatment, personal stability and work progression.
