    Brief

Shropshire Council is conducting a secondary market engagement exercise to gather supplier feedback on its planned procurement for electric vehicle charging infrastructure (EVCI) across Shropshire. The Council has secured £2,006,000 from the Department for Transport's Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Fund to deploy over 550 additional public charge points, expanding from the current 546 existing chargers. The Council will appoint a charge point operator under a 15-year concession contract (with potential 2-year extension) to design, supply, install, connect, operate, and maintain the charging network. The network will comprise primarily 7kW standard chargers supplemented by 22kW fast chargers and limited rapid chargers (50kW+) on-street and on Council-owned land. The concessionaire will be responsible for detailed design, installation, distribution network connections, operation, maintenance, customer services, asset lifecycle management, and performance reporting. This engagement exercise is being conducted under the Procurement Act 2023 and is intended to inform the design of a formal procurement expected to commence in 2026 with contract award in 2027. The Council particularly welcomes feedback on Traffic Regulation Orders, site assessment and selection, site design and stakeholder engagement, and communications strategy. This notice does not constitute a call for competition or commitment to procure, and participation will not provide advantage in any future procurement. Interested suppliers should note that future procurement will require registration on the Central Digital Platform with maintained Core Supplier Information.
