    Brief

The National Oceanography Centre (NOC) is seeking a feasibility study to evaluate a net-zero, self-sustaining energy solution for Outbuilding A5. The study will assess the technical viability of integrating roof-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, battery energy storage, and an air source heat pump (ASHP) to meet the building's heating and electrical demands while maximizing renewable energy generation. The scope includes analyzing current energy demand patterns, determining appropriate system sizing, exploring operational scenarios for both grid-connected and islanded (off-grid) operation, and evaluating compatibility with the existing Building Management System (BMS). The final deliverables will include a preferred technical solution with detailed risk assessments, identification of enabling works, implementation considerations, and strategic recommendations to guide the future design and deployment of a low-carbon energy system. This study will provide NOC with the evidence base needed to proceed confidently toward decarbonization of this building.
