Medical Gas Pipeline System Maintenance at Nottingham City Hospital

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has awarded a temporary contract for the servicing and maintenance of the medical gas pipeline system (MGPS) at Nottingham City Hospital. This contract follows the termination of a previous agreement and is essential for ensuring compliance with Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 02-01 and other relevant standards and legislation. The main goal of this service is to provide a safe and reliable medical gas pipeline system for delivering medical gases, such as oxygen, to patients in the Trust's care. The medical gas pipeline system includes a supply source, a distribution pipeline, terminal units for connecting medical equipment, and a warning/alarm system. To ensure the MGPS operates safely, the Trust requires a contractor to perform regular planned preventative maintenance to prevent faults or failures, as well as reactive maintenance services for urgent issues, such as call-outs. Even minor problems, like a leak in the pipeline, can lead to serious consequences, including patient fatalities due to oxygen deprivation.
