Remedial Conservation Works for Rossmore Memorial Fountain, Monaghan

Monaghan County Council is tendering for remedial conservation works on the Rossmore Memorial Fountain, a Victorian Gothic Revival monument built in 1875–76 and located in The Diamond, Monaghan town centre. The fountain is a protected architectural landmark originally erected to commemorate Henry Robert Westenra, 4th Baron Rossmore. Works will focus on stabilising and conserving the historic masonry and carved stonework, addressing active deterioration and public safety risks. Contractors must use minimal intervention and reversible, lime-based conservation techniques to preserve original materials and craftsmanship. The project requires maintaining the monument's accessibility and role as the architectural centrepiece of Monaghan's main public square whilst ensuring public safety throughout the works.
