    Brief

    Cambridge City Council is looking for qualified contractors to conduct fish surveys across four chalk streams in Cambridge during 2027 and 2028. This project supports the Cambridge Chalk Stream Project's restoration efforts. Scope of Work: You will conduct fish population surveys across Hobson's Brook, Cherry Hinton Brook, Coldham's Brook/East Cambridge Main Drain, and Vicar's Brook. Specific survey locations, site access and permissions will be confirmed with the successful provider. Key Tasks: - Conduct fish assemblage surveys to identify species and populations - Assess fish recruitment and interpret habitat conditions - Evaluate connectivity between stream sections - Detect and survey brook lamprey populations - Assess habitat suitability for fish species - Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders Required Qualifications and Experience: - Proven electrofishing competence with appropriate certifications and permissions - Fish ecology expertise and knowledge of chalk stream restoration - Demonstration of fish welfare and biosecurity procedures - Experience working safely in urban watercourse environments - Ability to interpret survey results within chalk stream restoration context Contract Details: Maximum contract value: £29,500 (excluding VAT) Duration: Two years (2027-2028) How to Apply: Submit your expression of interest through the Cambridge City Council procurement portal by the published deadline.
