Barriers to Accessible Transport Training Delivery

The UK Department for Transport (DfT) is seeking a supplier to deliver comprehensive Barriers to Accessible Transport training to staff across the Department, its agencies, and arm's-length bodies. The training combines guided tours of transport networks led by disabled guides with lived experience, coupled with classroom-based disability equality learning. The programme aims to help staff identify accessibility barriers, understand the Social Model of Disability, incorporate inclusive design principles into their work, and make informed decisions that improve experiences for disabled transport users. This initiative responds to recommendations from the Transport Select Committee's March 2025 report highlighting gaps between accessibility rights and the real-world experiences of disabled passengers. DfT requires 12 full-day training sessions accommodating up to 20 participants each, delivered over a 12-month period. Training will initially launch from DfT's London office, with expansion to Birmingham, Leeds, York, and potentially other UK locations. The supplier should demonstrate expertise in disability equality training, inclusive design, and stakeholder engagement.
