Fire Repair and Refurbishment of Mount Edgcumbe Barrow Centre Accommodation

Following a fire on 4 February 2025, the Mount Edgcumbe Barrow Centre requires refurbishment of its fire-damaged accommodation block. The project aims to restore commercial operations to the damaged northern wing while respecting the heritage status and environmental constraints of this historic site. The affected areas include 2 holiday cottages (Yew Tree Cottage and Horseshoe Cottage), 2 workers flats (numbers 3 and 6), totalling 8 bedrooms. The Barrow Centre is a mixed-use complex within Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park (jointly owned by Cornwall Council and Plymouth City Council) comprising historic service yard buildings that now function as a visitor centre, with a central U-shaped stable block containing a cafe, shops, holiday lets and worker accommodation. This refurbishment project represents a significant opportunity for contractors and suppliers specialising in heritage restoration, fire remediation, building repairs and renovation work on protected historic structures.
