    Brief

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is seeking a supplier to conduct metagenomic and metatranscriptomic analyses of faecal samples from The Third Study of Infectious Intestinal Disease (IID3). The research aims to identify the causes of infectious intestinal disease, characterise antimicrobial resistance genes, and assess virulence factors in patient samples. This 24-month project (with optional 6-month extension) will analyse faecal samples alongside relevant datasets to improve understanding of IID prevalence and diversity. The FSA protects public health and consumer interests across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland by ensuring food safety and integrity. Budget: £600,000 (excluding VAT). Successful suppliers should have expertise in metagenomic sequencing, bioinformatic analysis, and antimicrobial resistance profiling.
