    Brief

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) is seeking suppliers of metal detection equipment to support security operations across Her Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) facilities. This opportunity covers the supply and maintenance of three types of metal detection equipment: dual sensor ferro and non-ferro magnetic detection archways, handheld wands, and portable detection poles. These tools are essential for detecting metallic contraband and threats—including mobile phones, SIM cards, and razor blades—at key entry points including staff gates, prisoner visits, and prisoner reception areas. The procurement is structured into three separate lots, allowing suppliers to bid for one or more based on their capabilities: Lot 1 (Detection Archways), Lot 2 (Handheld Detectors), and Lot 3 (Portable Detection Poles). Supply contracts for each lot will run for six years, with maintenance agreements for archways extending to ten years. Contracts are non-exclusive, and no minimum volumes or demand guarantees are provided. Suppliers should demonstrate expertise in metal detection technology and capability to support prison security operations.
