    Brief

Environment Agency self-service direct award opportunity. The Environment Agency is commissioning an evidence review to support the regulation of engineered Direct Air Carbon Capture (DACC) plants. Currently, DACC activities are not explicitly covered under the Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR). Following Defra's October 2025 consultation on proposed EPR amendments to address this gap, further consultation is planned. This project will gather evidence on Best Available Techniques (BAT) for engineered DACC systems to inform future permit determination and regulatory decision-making. The review will support the development of environmental permitting standards for DACC technology as regulatory frameworks evolve.
