PCH is seeking an experienced Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) subject matter expert to guide the development of a national AMHP dataset. This contract involves working with PCH's Working with People team and a steering group (the Data subgroup of the AMHP Partnership Group, overseen by the Office of the Chief Social Worker) to build on previous dataset work and create national metrics, data items, definitions and lookup tables. You will need deep operational knowledge of Mental Health Act assessments, council-based AMHP services, current monitoring practices and associated challenges. The role requires you to understand how data can be structured (using the Adult Social Care Client Level Dataset as a model), identify which metrics are most valuable at national versus local levels, and ensure the work reflects equality, diversity and inclusion principles aligned with the NHS England patient and carer race equality framework. You will collaborate with councils to test data collection feasibility and help ensure the final dataset meets Department of Health and Social Care requirements. Key skills include synthesising complex information, presenting clear recommendations, stakeholder engagement, and proficiency with virtual collaboration tools. This is a subject matter expert advisory role requiring credibility, integrity and detailed attention to technical and legislative elements of AMHP practice.
