Main Contractor for Interventional Radiology Department Expansion at Guy's Hospital

Guys & St Thomas' Hospital seeks a main contractor for a two-stage design and build project to expand and modernize their Interventional Radiology (IR) department at Guy's Hospital. The project, located on Level 3 of Guy's Tower Wing, involves replacing aging imaging equipment, installing a new theatre-standard ventilation system, creating a new recovery area and Fluoroscopy procedure room, and reconfiguring ancillary spaces. The successful contractor will first enter a Pre-Construction Services Agreement (PCSA) where they will assume full design responsibility following design team novation, developing construction methodology, phasing strategy, logistics planning, and cost estimates. They will then proceed to the main works contract for construction delivery. A complex phasing strategy is essential to maintain critical hospital services throughout the project. The contractor must manage all Building Safety Regulator (BSR) submissions and demonstrate compliance with the Building Safety Act, including Gateway requirements. This project requires extensive experience in complex mechanical and electrical work, particularly theatre-level ventilation systems, within live healthcare environments.
