    Brief

Cefas and Natural England are seeking to charter a marine environmental survey vessel for a single 6-day mobilisation in September or October 2026 to complete monitoring activities at the Kentish Knock East Marine Protected Area. The vessel must be MCA MISW 'small workboat' class Category 2 coded, capable of supporting deployment and recovery of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) and sediment sampling equipment with a maximum lift capacity of 400 kg. The vessel will accommodate up to 5 Cefas/University of Southampton/Natural England personnel and provide crew support for repeated launch and recovery cycles. Cefas will supply all survey equipment, personnel, and operational planning. The successful supplier must demonstrate experience with marine environmental survey equipment deployment, provide valid P&I insurance covering embarked personnel, and ensure safe deck operations. Survey work includes AUV-based habitat imaging, sediment profile imaging at up to 10 stations per study area, and contingency drop-down video camera operations. Exact dates and station locations will be confirmed at the pre-mobilisation meeting.
