Brief

South Tyneside Council is leading a partnership with Newcastle City Council, Gateshead Council, North Tyneside Council, Northumberland Council, and Darlington Borough Council to develop and deliver a comprehensive medicines optimization service for public health. This collaborative initiative seeks to enhance pharmaceutical management and health outcomes across the region. The service will encompass five key functions: (1) Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment leadership to identify regional medicine requirements; (2) Strategic Community Pharmacy Development to strengthen pharmacy services; (3) Specialist support to health commissioners for evidence-based decision-making; (4) Community Pharmacy Engagement to foster partnerships with local providers; and (5) Public Health Intelligence and Insight to inform strategy with data-driven analysis. Suppliers should be prepared to demonstrate expertise in pharmaceutical services, health system optimization, strategic commissioning support, and public health analytics. The successful provider will work closely with multiple local authorities to improve medicine safety, efficacy, and accessibility while optimizing costs across the health system.
